“Desert Father Donkey Kong”

by Graham Pardun

The ladder of divine ascent
Fractured when it crossed through

Platforms in the sky, and I—a mortal ape
Becoming immortal—climbed it as best I could

Though there were oil drums on fire raining down on me
From an unseen cloud

Graham Pardun is just some kum-ba-yah hack poet-philosopher of sorts exploring the very quiet Mother Earth, Father Sky side of wild Christianity. He writes a mildly bestselling Substack called Sabbath Empire and is slowly building a timber frame house in the forest.
